Safety Act No.1 Year 70Article 27 paragraph (2) Undand Law of 1945, states that: “every citizen has the right to work and decent living for humanity”. On the basis of Article 27 paragraph (2) is issued Law No. 14 of 1969 concerning the Principles of Labor, which in article 9 of Law was stated as follows: “Every labor is entitled to protection of health safety, workplace morale maintenance and treatment in accordance with human dignity and moral religion “.

Management Safety and Health

History and evolution of safety and health as related to “work” is reviewed along with the safety management in the organizational structure. Elements of occupational safety and health proposed by several organizations are summarized. The focus of this chapter is primarily safety and health aspects of work in the United States, but there is evidence that the benefits and …

chances to apply management methods beyond the boundaries of the state has increased. This is especially true with globalization efforts by the International Standards Organization (ISO) on quality management (ISO 9000 series) and environmental management (ISO 14000 series).
However, the most important aspects of performance management of occupational safety and health must be done with the organizational culture.Until the degree in which the safety, health and welfare of every individual in the organization is a core value is the degree to which the safety and health will be managed or handled properly. Thus, the challenge for the leadership of various organizations is to create and / or put these values and make it as a “way of doing things”. When this is done, use and apply the information contained in subsequent chapters become automatic and institutionalized.
One part of the Piper Alpha disaster report says, “Safety is not an intellectual exercise to make us keep working. Safety is about life and death. This is the amount of our contribution to safety management that determines whether the people who work with us live or die “.

A great improvement in the Internet and World Wide Web makes access to information up-to-date to be faster and better. Informal networking has always been a natural phenomenon that occurs between safety and health professionals.

occupational safety and healthThere is no doubt that the employer or employer is responsible; to create the company, becomes the main generator of all the risks associated with a task. If we add a hapless management, most urgently appear accidents and occupational diseases.

In Puerto Rico Section 6 A of the Law on Safety and Health at Work states: Every employer shall furnish to each employee employment and a place of employment free from recognized hazards that are causing or likely to cause death or injury physically to their employees ”

As such, employers must conduct an evaluation of each task and identify the hazards that are present. They then must seek an alternative to eliminate these hazards, starting with engineering controls, administrative controls and failing to provide personal protective equipment.
