Health, safety, and job security is the protection efforts of labor to keep it healthy and safe while working in the workplace. The workplace is closed or open spaces, moving or still, or often entered labor for business purposes and where the presence of the sources of danger.

Accidents can be grouped into accidents caused by:
1. Machine
2. Transport
3. Other work equipment
4. Chemicals
5. Work environment

Beware of Heat Stress

It is increasingly common to hear on the news that people living in countries die in summer seasonsheat stroke“. In other countries, although there are no seasons, no thermal levels and extreme temperatures. In this regard it is important to know what heat stress and know that its effects range from rapid heart rate, sweating, irritability, injury to mental health to death.

The moderate heat stress even if not directly dangerous to health, can cause discomfort and adversely affect the operation and safety. As there are limits of human tolerance for heat stress, the risks of heat related disorders increase if no attention is paid to the symptoms of heat stress and fatigue.

The most alarming sign is that the body of the victim stops sweating and keeps skin dry and warm. In that case, it is necessary first aid and go forthwith to the nearest health center.

Classification of Environmental Agents

The “occupational disease” implies that results of work or occupation of the individual or have any connection with him. In some cases the principal cause, and another one can be considered as a contributing factor. There is an agent for every occupational disease, just as there is for the contagious disease.

Environmental Agents:

One of the most important objectives of industrial hygiene is to prevent prejudice to the health of workers by environmental contaminants. To achieve that end is necessary:

1. Recognize the risk.

2. Study and evaluate the problem.

3. Promote measures to eliminate the problem.

Environmental pollutants that cause occupational diseases can be classified into three main groups: chemical, physical agents and biological agents.

Definition of Industrial Hygiene

Industrial hygiene is the art, science and technology to recognize, assess and control environmental agents and the tensions that arise in the workplace and that can cause illness, impairment of health or welfare, or discomfort and inefficiency among workers .

The definition acknowledges that in the workplace and stress are environmental agents that can cause disease. These agents can be recognized, evaluated and monitored and such activity is crucial in industrial hygiene.

Definition of Health:
The World Health Organization has defined health as a state of complete physical, mental and social.

Occupational Disease Definition:
Occupational disease is acquired by the worker as a result of their work. Or even easier, as defined by Ramazzini in the title of his book: “The diseases to which workers are exposed by reason of their profession.”
