Many factors ranging from obesity to use vibrating tools and have little authority to make decisions in the workplace influence the individual risk of developing certain occupational injuries. The aging labor constraints and increased “dramatically” the risk of workers suffering these injuries.
An aging workforce and the “intensification of work” in many countries, industry and the Government should organize their efforts to prevent these injuries.
The researchers surveyed 3710 employees in France to 472 were diagnosed with a musculoskeletal disorder in at least one upper limb.
That term covers many diseases that affect muscles, joints, nerves and bones of the hands, arms and men. The rotator cuff syndrome and carpal tunnel are the two most common disorders of the extremities.
The old and have had one of those disorders emerged as the strongest risk factors for musculoskeletal disorders in upper limbs in men and women.
Other risk factors for men were obesity, having a job very demanding physically or psychologically, to do repetitive tasks and work with hands on or above shoulder level with elbows bent or completely.
The risks were different for women included diabetes, flexion “extreme” of the dolls, use of vibrating tools and have low job decision.
The wide variety of risk factors makes it clear that prevention of these disorders is a “difficult challenge.
The study suggests multidimensional interventions, including education, modification of individual risk factors (such as treatment of diabetes) and reducing occupational exposure to biomechanical stresses and stress,.
Individual effort and enterprise to improve the working environment, and that workers involved in these measures “would be an appropriate strategy to reduce the physical demands and symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders, although the epidemiological evidence of its effectiveness are limited “.
