Health Effects of Intense Exposure to Cold

ColdIn case of occupational exposure to cold can distinguish two types of effects:

1. Acute or Immediate Effects: Typically occur in accidental situations. They can be:

  • Local: Freezing of any member (fingers and toes). The type of injuries they produce is similar to burns.
  • General: Decreased level of consciousness and state of somnolence.

2. Chronic Effects: Prolonged exposure to low temperatures can cause lung problems (chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, etc..) Ear (otitis) or eyes (conjunctivitis).

Vibrating Tools and Musculoskeletal Disorder

musculoskeletal disorderMany factors ranging from obesity to use vibrating tools and have little authority to make decisions in the workplace influence the individual risk of developing certain occupational injuries. The aging labor constraints and increased “dramatically” the risk of workers suffering these injuries.

An aging workforce and the “intensification of work” in many countries, industry and the Government should organize their efforts to prevent these injuries.

The researchers surveyed 3710 employees in France to 472 were diagnosed with a musculoskeletal disorder in at least one upper limb.

That term covers many diseases that affect muscles, joints, nerves and bones of the hands, arms and men. The rotator cuff syndrome and carpal tunnel are the two most common disorders of the extremities.
