In case of occupational exposure to cold can distinguish two types of effects:
1. Acute or Immediate Effects: Typically occur in accidental situations. They can be:
- Local: Freezing of any member (fingers and toes). The type of injuries they produce is similar to burns.
- General: Decreased level of consciousness and state of somnolence.
2. Chronic Effects: Prolonged exposure to low temperatures can cause lung problems (chronic bronchitis, pneumonia, etc..) Ear (otitis) or eyes (conjunctivitis).
Many factors ranging from obesity to use vibrating tools and have little authority to make decisions in the workplace influence the individual risk of developing certain occupational injuries. The aging labor constraints and increased “dramatically” the risk of workers suffering these injuries.
